Come and make something really special and unique!
Thanks to funding from Southwark Adult Learning Services we have more of our popular Family Workshops in jewellery making to offer the local community, and they are absolutely free! These Introductory family workshops aim to get children involved in making and enjoying their creativity. At Flux Studios we provide a supportive environment where families / children and their carers can actively engage with creative and craft processes together in the professional environment of an artist studio.
We have some very exciting jewellery workshops in specialist techniques coming up at Flux.
Here are two weekend courses coming up in the next months.
1. Sat/Sun 20/21 October – Keum Boo workshop with Barbara Yarde.
2. Sat/Sun 15/16 December – Etching Techniques for Jewellery with Becky Dockree
We are delighted to have been chosen to work with Southwark Adult Learning Services (SALS) again this year to provide a range of exciting courses for Southwark Residents.
All of the Southwark Programme courses are subsidised by between 55% and 100%.
With SALS’ support we are able to bring to you our free family workshops. We also have some weekday courses that are free if you are on a low income.

More great Jewellery Courses at Flux Studios. We are once again offering our special weekend Jewellery courses from our well equipped South London Studios. Because of a subsidy from the local council these two day short courses and family workshops are now being sponsored for the year ahead. Our weekend courses offer great value at £80 / £40 for local residents, and weekday jewellery courses are free! Please visit the website for more details

This weekend we had a lovely group of highly motivated individuals, mostly with no previous experience in making, who all went smiling home with rattling pockets and jingling fingers – proud makers of some really fine pieces of jewellery!
Southwark Adult Learning Services are assisting us to run these jewellery courses for local residents, and the aim is to reach as wide an audience as possible.
Family workshops aim to get adults and children working creatively together, and are free to Southwark residents. They are great fun!
We also run weekend (2 day) workshops and weekday courses (3 days) for adults, focusing on a range of jewellery making techniques, and again thanks to the SALS support our courses for residents cost as little as £40 for 2 days, including lunch and materials – (pewter, copper and silver)
We have worked through our waiting lists, and there are 1 or 2 remaining places on some of the jewellery courses here at Flux.
If you fancy a stretch of your creative faculties in January please visit here to sign up.
They make for a FABULOUS gift too!!!!
I’m endlessly surprised by how much is achieved by the participants – complete beginners, young and old – in such a short time, and by the range and quality of creativity that unfolds in those 3 hours…..Elsewhere, hammers and punches were used to make interesting textures, and beautiful patterns were pressed using the rolling mill. A particular favourite for me was Laura’s landscape.. she worked out a superb solution for a plinth.
Oh woe and sadness! 🙁
A favourite prop, the hand of Macha, which has lived among the plants at Flux Studios, has gone…
It’s absence is causing problems for photography continuity for my book on jewellery…
If you have seen it wandering around, please send it home to Flux
It’s irreplaceable

Here at Flux Studios we are very proud of Imogen, who has just been announced as the winner of this year’s Bright Young Gem award at the IJL (international jewellery London)
Here’s a beautiful piece by Nic Webb, who quickly grasped the parameters of the material in hand to produce this highly original ring.
In response to popular demand we decided to run a similar course for intermediate jewellery students this term; there are still 1 or 2 places left so if you fancy joining get signed up here
This 12 week course starts 22 September. All other courses at Flux start 13/14 September. Check the prospectus for full details.

We are also pleased to present our free family workshops, running on selected Saturday afternoons
I’m delighted with my result. I’m not sure yet whether it will be an object to wear – I like the idea of it being a conundrum, a curiosity, a museum piece – a future relic. I’m still thinking about it’s deeper symbolic associations with water/life/preciousness…..the way we live now…

We are thrilled to announce Flux Studio’s association with London Jewellery Week and JewelEast.
Located in the heart of Camberwell, in a cobbled court yard which is also home to many other artists, Flux studios is an innovative member’s workshop. Its location and size means it is able to provide a supportive and creative hub in which the members can practice and excel in their craft. As such the members create exciting, original, individual and modern work which is highly collectable.
Do you deserve a real treat? Do you work with clay?
Cork Potters are running these exciting workshops in June… only a few places remaining… guaranteed to delight!
Led by the fabulous and inspiring Mariann Ban, these workshops promise to unleash your creativity.
This is fantastic opportunity to spend a long weekend in beautiful West Cork.
You’ll meet some great people too!
