Champleve, Cloisonne, Plique a jour, Guilloche, Basse Taille, Sgraffito – there are many ways to apply enamel, and each is an exacting process that takes years to master. But the road to glory must start somewhere… and we believe those first steps should be fun and rewarding…
Book now. We teach the basic technical aspects of vitreous enamelling techniques for jewellery, alongside the associated health and safety issues related to the use of enamel powders and liquids. We will first learn how to obtain a well-fused enamel surface, and then through guided experimentation we will explore mark making techniques on copper and steel, and on the second day we will develop a finished piece of jewellery using cold connection techniques.
Book Now. If you love the softness of silk, delicacy of lace, intensity of leather or the natural look of cotton, and want to incorporate these qualities into your jewellery, this course is for you!
Combining textiles with metal elements can give permanence to the etherial qualities of fabric, and we will explore a number of ways to draw contrasting elements together using a variety of joining methods including cold connections like riveting, screw threading and weaving.
Learn how to design and make your own silver jewellery – let us show you how to set semi-precious stones….Make an elaborate sterling silver cocktail ring – explore ways to shape and form sheet metal, and extend your soldering skills….Develop more advanced approaches to casting techniques for jewellery – learn how to prototype using wax, use delft sand to create complex forms in silver and experiment with ways to include precious stones in your castings….

We have 2 great weekend jewellery courses for Southwark residents, once again generously supported by Southwark Adult Learning Services.
Come and make something really special and unique!
Thanks to funding from Southwark Adult Learning Services we have more of our popular Family Workshops in jewellery making to offer the local community, and they are absolutely free! These Introductory family workshops aim to get children involved in making and enjoying their creativity. At Flux Studios we provide a supportive environment where families / children and their carers can actively engage with creative and craft processes together in the professional environment of an artist studio.
We are delighted to have been chosen to work with Southwark Adult Learning Services (SALS) again this year to provide a range of exciting courses for Southwark Residents.
All of the Southwark Programme courses are subsidised by between 55% and 100%.
With SALS’ support we are able to bring to you our free family workshops. We also have some weekday courses that are free if you are on a low income.
