Flux is a special place…I can feel the freedom of creativity at Flux studio. It is very important for me to feel that there is no boundary and everything is possible. Tutors always come up with solution for my random ideas.
Think I will do another course at Flux after I finished this current one. (Very glad I have spoken to you on the phone in the first place. Flux is a special place.)

I was delighted to know that I could have an affordable way to continue my jewellery activity after finishing college. At Flux we have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where people with different backgrounds can learn from each other and also share experiences and the passion for jewellery, design and craftsmanship.

Fantastic Course..Plenty of scope to develop your own designs plus teaching in wide range of jewellery skills. Teacher is an experienced jeweller, very enthusiastic and encourages creativity among her students. Well equipped jewellery studio. Good atmosphere in the classes.

Excellent course a must for silver jewellery ! You get your great value for money, and more. the teacher is excellent and is always more than ready to help and give advice. she always encourages you to develop in all the aspects of jewellery making, and has great passion. I always looked forward to my next class. The studio was made for the pupils in mind. We have access to all equipment, and are taught to use and respect all equip. what we don’t know how to use the teacher is more than willing to teach. I looked forward to every session, great atmosphere! I made lots of friends for life and keep in touch with everyone from my class. We regularly chat on the phone and meet up for jewellery making sessions at each others homes. teacher is great, you will always have fun as well as learning everything as she pushes you to develop and learn!

Make jewellery well, have fun, make friends! The tutor has a thorough knowledge and experience in jewellery making, she helps you to achieve great results and helps you explore your own ideas and individuality. The classes are informal and fun and very productive. The course is great value for money. The studio is well equipped and there are plenty of tools to share. The library of reference books can be a great source of ideas and the class discussions are also good for stimulation of ideas. Each session is productive and great fun, the group work in a very relaxed and happy environment. We socialise by attending exhibitions together and sometimes shop in Hatton garden for supplies.

What I love most about Flux Jewellery School is its sense of community. It’s a lovely well-equipped bright studio set in a quaintly beautiful cobbled street full of artists’ and crafts people’s studios, a world away from the hustle bustle of London life. The teachers are friendly and warm, and are clearly happy to share their passion. They’re genuinely supportive and encourage you to push yourself with your idea, you often end up making something that seemed beyond your capabilities. Flux Jewellery School is such a special place where time seems to flow differently, making jewellery there is really quite therapeutic, and all the while you’re learning new skills. No wonder there are so many repeaters!!

I have been studying at Flux Jewellery School for four years now, starting with a weekend course which so whetted my appetite to learn more about working with metal to make jewellery. Water colour paintings has always been my métier but I can’t wear them! My intention therefore, was not to churn out jewellery to dominate the market but to experiment and learn – feeding my increasing passion to make quality pieces from a variety of materials. Flux Jewellery School nurtures, gives knowledge unconditionally and provides encouragement that cannot be found in any other school or college. To describe Flux Jewellery School to anyone who is thinking to stretch their imagination and learn a new skill I would say that Flux gives not only first class tuition but also a sincere feeling of creative community, friendship and the celebration of each other’s achievements. Flux Jewellery School is the place in London to acquire quality and craftsmanship in jewellery making.

Flux Jewellery School is like my home away from home studio, I get so much from Vicky’s approach to running the studio the sharing of skills, experience and learning new approaches and ways of working. I love the personal challenge and the friendly collective atmosphere. I love that after years of not doing jewellery I’m thinking like a jeweller again

I first went to Flux for a beginners jewellery class back in 2010 and after the first class I was hooked. The space is fantastic, incredibly well equipped and walking distance from my house! The teaching staff have always been friendly, patient, kind, flattering of my (sometimes dodgy!) creations and encouraging in the extreme. I’ve learned a wide range of silver-smithing techniques having known NOTHING before I started. I’ve built my confidence and made some really special pieces for friends, family and myself. Making jewellery on a teeny scale can be like meditation – a chance to take time out from the week to concentrate on making something beautiful. I returned after a break to have a baby and will be back again after the second is a bit older – I know I’ll be welcomed back like an old friend. Vicky has created a unique and special place for anyone with an interest to learn and I’m lucky to have it on my doorstep.

I discovered Flux Jewellery School when I was searching google for some images of jewellery. I found some beautiful examples and clicked into the website to get some more info. The courses really grabbed my imagination and so I enrolled for a weekend course and thought I’d give it a go.
The course was amazing, the studio set-up is professional, yet comfortable and Vicky and Barbara are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their craft and how we as beginners learn to express our creativity.
After the weekend course I was hooked, so I am now on another flux course for ten weeks and contemplating which course I will do in the New Year.
Patricia Davidson Student since 2013
When I am in the studio for my three hour class, I am completely lost in the world of learning new skills and producing an original outcome. The added bonus is the other more experienced jewellers that use the workshop, they are so approachable and willing to discuss what they are doing and it’s quite inspirational to watch and learn side by side.
I have gained so much from being on the courses and having the expert guidance and guinuine enthusiasm that comes with it.

I have lost count of the number of evening courses I have attended at Flux but I have been coming back again and again for about 6 years. I used to live fairly locally so originally it was very convenient for me to attend. However, even when I moved to the other side of London I was not interested in going to any other classes. The atmosphere at Flux is friendly and creative and the teachers give you incredible advice and support with your projects. The cost of the courses is affordable which is amazing as I would never have been able to attend so many classes elsewhere. Flux have helped me to learn new skills and to create some treasured pieces of jewellery for myself, my family and my friends.

Flux Jewellery School has a very welcoming atmosphere and caters for different abilities, experiences and ambitions of students. The teachers at Flux Jewellery School support its students with fantastic technical supports you wouldn’t find easily in a book or online. But, equally important, it also guides each student on their individual jewellery making journey, making it a very personal studio that takes the needs of each student very seriously. I’ve attended many jewellery courses in the past and have used different studio spaces to make my own jewellery collections. I must say that Flux Jewellery School has been one of the best studios I’ve been to in terms of equipment they offer, teacher support and knowledge, value for money and on top of that it has a very warm, welcoming and fun feel to it making it a joy to part of Flux Jewellery School . I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Sonja Bessant Student since 2008, professional jeweller
The courses I attended, on pewter casting, on making a ring and on creating a piece of jewellery where we domed copper to make a pierced bead were wonderful. What I enjoyed was the easy sociable atmosphere and workshop space in a lovely calm cul de sac, combined with the precision of the work itself. The camaraderie was great, and because there are so many jewellers who come in to rent workshop space, there are loads of opportunities to see really interesting and often extraordinary work, and ask questions of the makers. I liked the small (expanding) but perfect library and how open you are to the ideas, often quite incoherent, of ambitious beginners! I am also impressed by how regularly you offer free courses to Southwark residents, which shows a genuine commitment to your local communities. Having been to one course, it would never had occurred to me to go anywhere else, as the atmosphere and ethos of the workshops so chime with mine! Thanks, Vicky!

I have been making jewellery at Flux Jewellery School since April 2013. Having studied abroad for a couple of years , on my return to London just over a year ago , I was very keen to continue making and learning And examine the possibilities of selling . Unfortunately my search was waylaid by the need for treatment for breast cancer .So, several months later, feeling vulnerable and out of practise, it was important for me to find the right venue. There are many places that offer jewellery courses in London and it was hard to sift through what was on offer : many try to seduce with technicolor websites, short courses for inflated fees, flashy advertising and arrogant and misleading quotes . At the end of the day these places just seem to offer expensive occupational therapy for bored housewives.
Then I came across Flux Jewellery School. It sounded less flash , more serious yet more relaxed and a lot more professional than a lot of the other places .
I spoke to the owner and course director Vicky Forrester who was welcoming but not pushy and suggested I come for a free trial session .
What I didn’t anticipate was finding not just a studio to meet my practical and creative needs but more , much more, all of which has helped me find strength and purpose .Vicky is an incredibly talented and successful jeweller and yet is always open about sharing her techniques . Having the opportunity to work alongside professional jewellers is not only instructive but inspiring . The individual attention, respect and support is so encouraging and the atmosphere so relaxed that I can spend an entire day there and not spare one thought for the daily worries of the outside world.
I am loath to lavish too much praise because one the many charms of Flux is that it is not huge and the groups are small . Flux is a very special place with a lot of equipment and a lot of integrity.

I would like to tell you about the reason why I have come to Flux for many short 1-2 day courses as well as 1 longer course and, hopefully, another longer course in the New Year.
I will never make a fantastic jeweller, silversmith (unlike some of the people who use Flux), I don’t get the opportunity to do it often enough and I don’t have the creative ideas. However, with the help of Flux’s existence and the never ending patience of the tutors on the courses, I have learned some skills and managed to make some pieces that I have been proud of and have felt able to give to people who are dear to me and who have really treasured them. Most importantly, these courses have also given me a sense of myself at times when work and family have taken up so much of my time and energy and help to ground me when I have felt particularly stressed.
My family have also benefitted from Flux – both my partner and my kids have been given the opportunity to create things and learn techniques. The kids may never be fantastic silversmiths but they will always remember where the hottest part of a flame is and have learnt other transferable, useful skills as well as expanding their abilities to problem solve. Southwark’s involvement with Flux has really facilitated these family workshops.
Londoners are so lucky to have Flux Jewellery School – it’s considerate, respectful and ethical approach is a model that I would like to see adopted in many other businesses.

Flux Jewellery School is an oasis in the heart of Camberwell, a calm and beautifully designed space within a historical courtyard. It is a studio where all kinds of learners, from complete beginners to established jewellers, can learn and share the art and skill of jewellery making from patient professionals. I have attended a few courses and wear my silver ring with pride every day. I will return to learn more as I feel that it is just the beginning. Vicky Forrester, Flux’s founder, has created a unique setting that offers an opportunity to achieve professional outcomes without the use of shortcuts or gimmicks and it should never be confused with any other jewellery school.
Edori Fertig Student 2009 - 2013
I was introduced to Flux Jewellery School by Vicky Forrester, with whom I have commissioned a pendant. This has turned into a team effort which has made it even more special. As a result I enrolled in their evening jewellery making course and chose to start with casting. If I had to chose one word it would be “fabulous” . The tutors are an inspiration. They provide a great deal of individual attention and are always encouraging. We have learnt a wide range of techniques and it has been enormous fun. I am dreading the end of the course and hope to keep attending flux on an occasional basis. My 9 year old daughter and I attended a one-off Halloween themed workshop last weekend and had a ball! Finding Flux is the best thing I have done in years.

Attending classes at Flux Jeweller School is opening up many new avenues for my own jewellery design. The expert advice and tuition from Vicky…her attention to detail is second to none as she continually encourages her students to reach their full potential… and the access to superb equipment, in a friendly and ordered working environment, have all boosted my own creative output and confidence as a designer. Flux Jewellery School is hard to beat on high quality of teaching and facilities, combined with very reasonable cost of courses.

I really enjoy going to Flux Studios to make and design my own silver jewellery. The studio is very well equipped and there are resources to inspire you, such as the library. It’s great to have such an experienced and enthusiastic teacher to discuss your ideas and help you to build the knowledge to guide you through your designs. I have learned so much and been very inspired from being a part of the class and it’s great to share ideas and learn from the other students. Everyone is made to feel really welcome. The studio is set off the road within a courtyard so it’s pretty safe for cyclists locking their bikes!

The studio facilities are fantastic! You don’t need to buy anything to start the course, I was able to start the course as the tutor is very flexible for making up the time you miss. Moreover she is excellent tutor!

If you are think you are creative, and like to learn when having fun this is course for you! If you are experienced and need guidance and inspiration this course is for you too! I could not wait until my Tuesdays lessons, to meet all students, to see what new techniques and jeweller`s secrets we were going to learn. This course thought me not only the manual side of the craft, but also how to transform my thoughts into a beautiful object. I have enjoyed that time so much! It was nothing better than meet with all students every week and work together. Such a pleasure to compare different point of view, tastes, imaginations especially after going to exhibitions or presenting finished items a front of all calls.
Kinga Tzusynska Student 2008 - 2012
Patient and knowledgeable… Excellent value for money. The course allows you to move your skills on to the next level through one on one tuition and plenty of practical time. The tutor encourages you to be independent and stretch your creative mind to do something new and different for each project. Like minded people with a great atmosphere. The tutor encourages you to learn from each other as well. Great fun.. you will look forward to each session!
Debbie L Student 2008 -2009
Great silver jewellery making courses! Great experience! The tutor (Vicky Forrester) is a fantastic and very experienced jeweller herself. She will work together with you and guide you during the designing and making stages to ensure that you feel confident about your work. She will make sure to discuss possible flaws to your design and will help you find solutions for them. She will cover step by step how to approach your work and supervise whilst you do it, allowing you to gain the first hand experience that you need, but making sure you produce something you will feel proud of. Most of the tools will be there for you to borrow if you don’t have them, and you can also buy materials and resources from Vicky should you run out of forget to bring them yourself! Student life: Fantastic! A really good opportunity to discuss and show your work to other people, as well as seeing other people’s ideas and desings. And yes, we do meet from time to time after the course for a few drinks too! Hope to see you there soon!
Francis Quesada Pallares Student 2008 - 2014
Vicky is a fantastic teacher, who successfully manages the balance between class demonstrations & instruction with individual direction and advice, whether it be practical issues, design frustrations or just the need for some good old fashioned encouragement. Vicky is passionate about what she does and gets real satisfaction from seeing her students progress and develop. She seems to revel in being presented with tricky practical issues and coming up with a number of possible solutions which are mentally and creatively inspiring, if sometimes a little challenging. I look forward to the end of September and the start of the new course, when I have some new tricky practical issues to present 🙂
Kate B Student 2008 - 2012
Top rate teaching…This course is excellent value for money and stands out from the rest. Vicky Forrester is a brillaint tutor – ensuring that each student is equipped with the necessary skills, technique, confidence and inspiration to make jewellery for life! Excellent range of equipment; everything that you would need to make jewellery with precious metals and stones effectively and safely…An informal friendly atmosphere… no stuffyness here! A great way to meet new people and share friendships, jewellery making tips and test out ideas
Beth Kelly student 2008 - 2011
“Amazed at how much I’ve learnt. Thank you for your patience and friendliness. Really pleased. Especially pleased about how much I learnt about properties of metals, how to soften them, what hardens them. Fascinating I will look into them more”.
Nuala Student, 2011
I really enjoyed the course… I’m going to continue engraving and trying to improve….I can’t sing Elena’s praises enough! Elena is a really gifted teacher and that is quite a rare skill. She was personable, friendly and created a relaxed and supportive atmosphere in the class while teaching us all skills that were very technical and difficult.I’m astounded by the progression we all made, from not being able to feel comfortable holding the onglette properly to having the confidence to create our own self led pieces.Zoe
