How To Choose a Jewellery Course

If you are thinking of joining a jewellery design course or a jewellery making course , how do you find the right one for you?

As a learner you need to consider the steps that are right for you at this moment in time. Do you need qualifications to assist in getting your dream job? Do you need to hone specialist skills to help you move your ideas forward? Do you want time to explore your potential without the pressure of ‘judgement’? Are you considering a career change?
We believe that creative evolution is best served through play; through our teaching we encourage experimentation.
With problem solving also at the heart of our practice we encourage students to explore techniques and to push beyond the accepted rules of making. The process (the journey) shapes the outcome, and we revel in the originality of outcome for each of our students. Contrary to other teaching approaches, that which others might define as ‘FAILURE’ becomes a valuable opportunity for understanding material, process or approach. The greatest works often result from such deviations!

London Jewellery School shows true colour with dirty tricks marketing strategies and dubious ethics

What purpose could it serve for the London Jewellery School to use the Flux Studios trading name as the introductory wording for their online advertising campaign? As Ms Jessica Rose has declined to comment further it is unclear to us why LJS should feel it necessary to implicate our trading name and our reputation in the advertising of their own business. Ms Rose has made no acknowledgement as to the intent or potential damage this campaign may have caused to Flux Studios. She has also declined to reveal the length of time for which this online campaign has been running. We wish to make clear that at Flux Studios our ethos and our activities are not linked in any way to the London Jewellery School. Flux Studios is a wholly independent jewellery studio and jewellery school with no connection to London Jewellery School whatsoever.

2011 review – a year at Flux

There is much for me to be thankful for, everything to be pleased about…

And here, 3 years after its inception, is a shining example of Flux Studios at its best, achieving all its objectives:

Flux students are inspired to learn more and explore the possibilities of becoming professionals, and become members…

Graduates become members to develop collections and business skills to promote and sell their work….

Members are supported to explore their market through open studios and exhibitions…

Members are given opportunities to develop teaching skills…

Members are challenged to speak about their work through interactions with students…

Students are surrounded by a massive creative community…

Members support each other by sharing workshop skills, business skills and connections…

Members become successful and fly away to set up their own studio…

But always, I hope, they remain Fluxy at heart!

Most expensive gemstone jadeite
, , ,

Jadeite shares top spot as one of most expensive gemstones

But for me none of these gems has the allure of Alexandrite, a spectacular stone that has the ability to change colour depending on lighting conditions. Blue-green in natural daylight, this remarkable gem turns pink-purple in incandescent light. It’s a magical night and day stone, truly a gem for the romantic heart.

So if you are looking for a gift that speaks romance and adventure, look for Alexandrite, choice of the tzars!
