Champleve, Cloisonne, Plique a jour, Guilloche, Basse Taille, Sgraffito – there are many ways to apply enamel, and each is an exacting process that takes years to master. But the road to glory must start somewhere… and we believe those first steps should be fun and rewarding…
Autumn 2016 – another opportunity for local families to join us for this exciting technique of pewter casting into cuttlefish bone. Great for adults and kids; make something special for each other.
Our expert jewellers at Flux have devised a range of unusual and stimulating jewellery courses and workshops for you to come and develop your skills. Don’t forget to check out our regular 10 week courses that run every term – autumn, spring and summer. Learn all about chain making, find out how to recycle your scrap silver, explore forming techniques, make a ring, set a stone….. we hope we have something for everyone here, and everything for some keen students too!
Look at these fabulous pewter pendants / medals / objects made by children and their adults at Flux Studios this weekend!
We had an invasion of robot – spacemen whose inspiration came perhaps through cloudy skies on shooting stars.
Thankfully our own earth based ghoulies in the form of skulls, skeletons, spiders and night birds were at the ready to defend us!

If you would like to join us for a weekend of creativity email me now;
if you can give me a good reason for giving you a place for free (instead of our highly reasonable £80 or £40 all inclusive fee) you might just get your dream come true.. what’s to lose?
Southwark Adult Learning Services are assisting us to run these jewellery courses for local residents, and the aim is to reach as wide an audience as possible.
Family workshops aim to get adults and children working creatively together, and are free to Southwark residents. They are great fun!
We also run weekend (2 day) workshops and weekday courses (3 days) for adults, focusing on a range of jewellery making techniques, and again thanks to the SALS support our courses for residents cost as little as £40 for 2 days, including lunch and materials – (pewter, copper and silver)
We have worked through our waiting lists, and there are 1 or 2 remaining places on some of the jewellery courses here at Flux.
If you fancy a stretch of your creative faculties in January please visit here to sign up.
They make for a FABULOUS gift too!!!!
I’m endlessly surprised by how much is achieved by the participants – complete beginners, young and old – in such a short time, and by the range and quality of creativity that unfolds in those 3 hours…..Elsewhere, hammers and punches were used to make interesting textures, and beautiful patterns were pressed using the rolling mill. A particular favourite for me was Laura’s landscape.. she worked out a superb solution for a plinth.
Make It in 2011! (Design and make your own jewellery)
