Weekday Short Course in Jewellery 10-11 October 2013

 

Course Details: Keum Boo. KB1.  On this course we introduce students to the art of fusing fine gold foil (24ct) to a finished piece of sterling silver jewellery On this course you will learn the ancient Korean technique of Keum – boo. The application of gold to silver is both beautiful and cost effective, and over the 2-day workshop we will also highlight additional techniques that can be applied to further enhance the contrast of colour and texture to produce highly individual pieces of jewellery.

By the end of the course you will have produced a range of test pieces that explore both texture (etching, hammers, pressing) and colour (Keum Boo, oxide), and you will have designed and made a pendant or ring that best exploits these techniques for your preferred aesthetic!

The Course Fee: Covers the cost of all materials for initial test pieces. Fair usage applies. Additional materials will be available for purchase if you wish to work on a larger or second piece of jewellery. You may also bring your own precious materials to work with and if you would like to have your work hallmarked with the Flux Studios hallmark this can also be arranged. Refreshments will also be provided.
