Intermediate Silver Jewellery Evening Course 12 Sept 2013

Course Details: Casting Techniques. C16 Explore a range of studio based casting techniques suitable for working with pewter; learn how to make effective moulds from cuttlefish and plywood; combine other materials in your moulds to create colourful inclusions in your resulting jewellery. Experiment with Delft sand casting.

Thursday eves, 6-9pm for 10 weeks

The course is presented in 3 projects that develop technical skills while also encouraging experimentation and design development.

  • Project 1 – Cuttlefish Casting techniques
  • Project 2 – plywood moulds for pewter and acrylic
  • Project 3 – Delft sand casting techniques

By the end of this course you will know how to include appropriate materials into pewter castings to add colour and interest to your jewellery designs, make an effective mould from cuttlefish and cast pewter into it, make an effective mould from plywood, add acrylic shapes and cast pewter into it, make an original in Delft sand and cast pewter into it – and you will have designed and made 3 pieces of cast jewellery.
