Wax Carving for Casting Silver Jewellery: 10 Week Course (Evening, Thu).
– On this 10 week course you will learn about wax carving and casting. You will be taught how to work with wax and how to prepare models for lost wax casting. Understand how size and dimension affects the weight of your final piece in various metals and learn how to reduce weight without compromising the visual impact of your design. Make a prototype that can be reproduced to make multiples of the same design.
- Project 1 – Wax carving: design and carve a ring in wax
- Project 2 – Wax carving: design and carve a pendant in wax
- Project 3 – design and make an item suitable for batch production
By the end of this course you will know how to:
Cut, carve and manipulate wax to realise your designs
Prepare your items for professional lost wax casting taking into consideration the constraints of the processes and materials involved.
And you will have designed and made 3 pieces of cast jewellery.
Max student numbers: 12 students with 2 tutors
