– On this 10 week jewellery course you will learn to design and make a pendant and a ring with a stone setting using semi-precious stones and traditional silver soldering techniques.
The course is presented in 2 projects that develop technical skills while also encouraging experimentation and design development.
- Project 1 – Design and make a silver pendant with a semi- precious stone setting
- Project 2 – Design and make a ring with a stone setting
By the end of this course you will know how to design 2 pieces of jewellery that work together as a set, cut, file and polish metals like copper and silver, measure and make a ring to fit your finger size, permanently join 2 or more elements together using traditional silver soldering techniques, make a rub-over setting for a stone, and set the stone, use wire to make jump rings and other types of attachments for jewellery – and you will have designed and made 2 pieces of jewellery, set with stones, that work together as a set.
Max student numbers: 12 students with 2 tutors
