Inspired – Flux Junior Genius, Winners 2015
This was another tough decision for the Flux jury, with all 4 junior genius entries deserving ‘Winner’ status.
We finally concluded that Sam and Sophia should be awarded joint first prize for their skeletal entries:
We love the way Sam worked out how to articulate his skeleton in 2 places, and that this happy chappy became studded with gems, with a blood red heart to bring extra life to the pendant.
Sophia’s bracelet also needed links to be able to flow around the wrist; getting the spacing right to make the bracelet fit was all part of the challenge. Batch production is a common feature of the jewellers lot, and Sophia has produced a number of skulls with that characteristic ‘similar but not the same’ quality that simple studio production methods can achieve.
Ruby, Frida and Amber both earn special merit for their entries too, so a joint prize of merit goes to these three:
