Inspired – Technical Genius 2015
We chose Viktoria Johnson Higham for her beautifully executed Wood and Silver Cuff.
As well as having a fine and pleasing functional design, this piece displays real competence with a range of complex jewellery making techniques including inlay, hinges, hinge-clasp, riveting and delft casting.
About this piece, Viktoria says ‘This bracelet says “I am bold & beautiful” and yet is a reminder of the splendour of trees. How the earth yields its treasures – the silver from below & the wood from above. It brings a smile, knowing that the scrap silver was cast from a piece of bark – wholly unifying both materials’
Viktoria is a regular at Flux Jewellery School, having attended the Advanced jewellery courses on Tuesday mornings for many years now.
