Course Description: Forming techniques for beads and pendants. G14. Learn the foundation skills in jeweller making through a series of fun set projects that encourage you to explore and experiment with ways to cut, fold and stretch metal. Make three hollow forms that can be used as beads or pendants. By the end of this course you will know how to: Cut, file and polish metals like copper and silver. You will also be able to form sheet using doming punches and fold metal using scoring techniques. Other techniques include being able to permanently join two or more elements together using traditional silver soldering techniques and use wire to make jump rings and other types of attachments for jewellery. Outcome: You will have designed and made three beautiful beads that can be worn as pendants.

The course is presented in 3 projects that develop technical skills while also encouraging experimentation and design development.
- Project 1 – make an elliptical bead/pendant
- Project 2 – make a cylindrical bead/pendant
- Project 3 – make a folded, rectangular bead/pendant
By the end of this course you will know how to design and make an item of jewellery from sheet metal using a range of forming and soldering techniques, in addition to the usual foundation jewellery making skills.
Materials Fee: £15 to cover the cost of all non precious materials and consumables, payable on the first day of your course
