In Pictures: Making it – Jewellery making in action

As Creative Urges 2018 approaches we look back on previous events…

Flux Open Studios for Camberwell Arts Festival 2016.

At Flux Studios we are focussed on the jewellery making process; we like to provide the best creative atmosphere for everyone to excel, whether member of the studio or student of the school.

When you learn something new, it’s important to have time to put this knowledge into practice, so further explore techniques and extend experience, so f or this special weekend we gave opportunity for the students to take over the studio. We invited all our students from the last year to book in for some (free) extended bench time and to show the public some Jewellery making in action. We were busy!

The students really enjoyed this opportunity to put their jewellery making skills into action. I enjoyed seeing how they engaged with our visitors,. There was a real sense of passion for our craft – the challenging, problem-solving, pleasure – giving  journey it takes us on – and a sense too of real community.

I like to see the bench preferences for our makers. While we have a few who manage a real sense of order on their bench, mainly I’d call it organised chaos. A great sign of the creative mind, my Grandmother used to say!

If you haven’t been to Flux before, you will get a sense of our studio, and our ambience. Here it is in pictures: Making it – Jewellery making in action
