Stone Setting Techniques – Getting to grips with fancy shaped stones. Learn how to make perfect bezel settings for pear and square shaped stones. Design and make a pendant and a ring using your new-found skills. (Evening, Thu).
– This intermediate jewellery course is perfect for those ready to explore more challenging stone setting techniques. With the focus on bezel settings, you will learn how to create perfect settings for pear and square shaped stones. You will then design and make a pendant and a ring with these shaped stones. Further extend your skills to learn how to set more unusual fancy shaped stones (trillion, emerald, marquis).
The course is presented in short skills-based projects that show how to make settings and how to set stones. These are followed by longer jewellery projects that focus on sharpening your design and making skills in conjunction with your new technical abilities.

What will I make?
The course is presented in the following projects:
- Design and make a pendant that incorporates a pear shaped stone
- Design and make a ring with a square stone
- Extension Project – make earrings to match
What will I learn?
By the end of this course you will have a sound, proven knowledge of bezel setting techniques for fancy stone shapes. Furthermore you will gain an overview of how to design and make jewellery for unusual stones. Then you will put this knowledge and experience together to make a stone – set pendant and ring.
