What will I learn?
We present the course through demonstration, discussion and practical application. From basic to complex procedures, we will examine the challenges we commonly face in our jewellery making practice. Consequently we will explore solutions that will have wider impact on similar scenarios.
We also look at the materials we use. What do you know about the different solders and fluxes that are available to us? We will explore the different grades of silver solder, and also all the forms it can come in. We’ll also look at a variety of fluxes. We’ll present test scenarios that help you to identify when each should be used.
What will I produce?
Since this course aims to support the technique in itself, you will have produced a wide range of test pieces that explore solders and fluxes, also experiments that demonstrate complex set-up solutions. We encourage you to document your findings throughout. Keep notes and take photos to use as a handy reference for future, challenging projects
