SUMMARY:Experimental stone setting techniques - Delft\, Claw and Wax (A28)
DESCRIPTION:Explore experimental and conventional approaches to stone setting. Combine traditional and experimental techniques to produce unusual\, stone-set jewellery. (Mornings\, Tuesdays).\nBook Now\n- On this jewellery course we explore traditional and experimental stone setting techniques in order to re-imagine new ways to design jewellery with stones. \n\nThe aim of the course is to create designs that begin with the stone as the source of inspiration. How best can you show all off the qualities of your stone? \n\nFirstly we begin with the bare fundamentals of traditional stone setting. Once you understand how to create simple\, reliable settings using conventional techniques\, you can then adapt these processes to truly honour the spirit of your gemstones. \n\nSince the stone becomes the focus\, then we are free to explore design and technique in equal measure.\n\nThis course is presented in 3 projects that explore a range of techniques you can employ for creative stone setting. \n\n \tExplore setting techniques that use claws. Make a traditional claw setting to understand the principles. Then deconstruct and reconstruct the setting to explore the necessary elements that keep your gemstone secure.\n \tWork with wax to create a setting for a large stone (pendant or ring).\n \tUse the delft sand casting technique to set a stone directly into molten metal (pendant or ring).\n\n\n \tExtension Project - Use your project results to create a unique pair of earrings with an experimental stone setting.\n\n Book Now\nCourse Tutor: Vicky Forrester\n\nMax student numbers: 10 students \n\nCourse Dates: 19 Sept - 21 Nov 2017\n\nClass Times: Tuesday mornings\, 10am - 1pm\n\nCourse Fee:  Standard: £260 / Concessions: £225 / Tuesday Extra £430\n\nMaterials Kit : Basic materials are included.\n\nWould you like to stay for the day? We also offer a Tuesday Extra package that gives you 4 hours of follow on time in the studio to work on your own projects. Read more here\n Book Now\nGeneral information about our Advanced courses:\nThese advanced jewellery courses are designed to assist you on an one-to-one basis\, providing the tutoring\, tools and equipment required to achieve your personal objectives.
