SUMMARY:Cold Enamelling Jewellery Techniques CE02
DESCRIPTION:Add vibrance and colour to your jewellery: Explore cold enamelling techniques.\nBook Now\nThis 2 day course is a great introduction to ways to combine cold enamel with metal\, bringing new possibilities to add colour\, texture and vibrance to your jewellery.\n\nCold enamel is a versatile medium that can be applied in a number of ways to create stunning effects. It comes in a wide range of colours\, and you can get opaque and translucent versions too. It's great to use on it's own\, however you can also add other media to the cold enamel\, for example metal dust to create starry effects - or if you are using translucent enamels you can embed precious objects into it (flowers\, watch parts etc).\n\nSince cold enamel is a type of resin it takes time to set and so this course runs over 2 consecutive Saturdays.\n15 and 22 June 2019\n \n\n\nWhat will I learn?\nThe first Saturday will focus on making several metal elements into which you can add cold enamels. Loosely based around the traditional enamelling method of cloisonne\, you will make 'cells' from wires\, which can then be filled with colours of your choice. These elements may be pendants\, earrings\, or bead-like elements for a chain.\n\nWe'll start you off with copper and brass wire\, sheet and tube -  and for your final / best design we'll provide you with some silver.\n\nBeginner jewellers will learn core jewellery skills for shaping and soldering metal. If you're  a more experienced jeweller we expect you'll make more complex forms. We encourage you to explore additional techniques that challenge the norm.\n\nWhen you return for the second Saturday your cold enamel should be set and we focus on polishing and finishing techniques for the pieces you have made. Our aim is for you to leave wearing at least one of your new pieces of jewellery!\n\nOnce introduced to this technique you can explore its endless possibilities and apply it to your making and design process. \nWhat will I produce?\nWe anticipate that you will produce at least one finished piece of jewellery in copper with cold enamels\, and one with silver and cold enamels. Depending on the complexity of your design\, you may also have time to produce additional items that explore the technique further.\nMaterials\nThe course fee covers the cost of materials to make an initial pendant or similar from copper or brass\, and also one in silver. If you wish to make additional pieces in precious metals you may bring your own stock. We can also advise on the purchase of extra materials.\nCan I get my work hallmarked?\nWe are able to offer a hallmarking service for precious jewellery made at Flux. So if you would like to have your work hallmarked with the Flux Studios hallmark this can be arranged at cost price.\n\nWe’ll provide you with tea\, coffee and light refreshments throughout the weekend. You’ll need to bring some lunch.\n\nCourse Tutor: Raffaella Nisi. An additional tutor will assist if more than 7 students enrol for this course\n\nMax student numbers: 6 - 12 (with an additional tutor)\n\nCourse Dates: 15 and 22 June 2019 To be confirmed\n\nClass Times: 10.00am – 5pm\nBook Now\nCourse Fee:\n\nInternational/Full fee £350\n\nUK residents £225\n\n*Concessions £195\n\n*If you are a UK residents and on a low wage\, or in receipt of tax credits or other benefit you qualify for the Flux concessionary rate.
