SUMMARY:Advanced Jewellery Making - Bead Setting and Pave (PB04)
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Jewellery Making - bead setting and pave: Weekend Course.\nBook Now\n-This course offers an introduction to bead setting and pave setting for gem-studded jewellery. Both these stone setting styles are advanced stone setting techniques that we frequently use in fine jewellery making.\nWhat will I learn?\nThese fine stone setting techniques require a high degree of precision in metal preparation and in procedure. Over 2 days you will be guided through the steps for successful setting\, and you'll have time for extensive practice using a variety of cuts and styles.\n\nOnce introduced to these techniques you can explore their endless possibilities and apply them to your making and design process. Not restricted by the common cuts of gems you will discover new freedom in creating visually more complex jewellery.\n\nBoth techniques require the use of a graver to raise a grain and to fine-cut around your setting; keeping your graver sharp is an essential requirement for success and so we will also cover both the preparation of your tool and how to sharpen it.\nWhat will I produce?\nWe anticipate you will produce a series of stone settings that show progressive skill and accuracy in your application of the techniques. We encourage you to use non precious metals and cz stones for your practice\, and when your confidence is sufficient you can explore working with more precious materials.\nMaterials\nThe course fee covers the cost of all materials. Metals available for your use include brass\, copper and gilding metal.\n\nIf you do want to work with silver you may also bring your own precious materials to work with.\nCan I get my work hallmarked?\nWe are able to offer a hallmarking service for precious jewellery made at Flux. So if you  would like to have your work hallmarked with the Flux Studios hallmark this can be arranged at cost price\n\nWe’ll provide you with tea\, coffee and light refreshments throughout the weekend. You’ll need to bring some lunch.\nBook Now\nCourse Tutor: Elena Timbaliuc. An additional tutor will assist if more than 7 students enrol for this course\n\nStudent numbers: 6 to 10\n\nCourse Date:  Sat 2 June to Sun 3 June 2018\n\nClass Times: 10.00am – 5pm daily\n\nCourse fee:\n\nFull fee £225\n\n*Concessions £200\n\n* If you are on a low wage\, or in receipt of tax credits or other benefit you qualify for the Flux concessionary rate.
