Design and Make a Pendant with a Stone – weekend jewellery course. Book now. First experimenting with texturing and other sheet metal techniques you will then design a pendant, also incorporating a semi-precious stone of your choice. You will then learn how to make a setting for the stone and you will complete the piece with a bail or a jump ring to attach it to a piece of leather
Book now. On this course we will introduce you to one of the oldest jewellery making techniques – hand engraving.
It requires the use of a graver to cut grooves into metal in order to create a beautiful design. We will learn how to prepare, sharpen and use a graver in order to create different decorative textures such as cross hatching, dotting and frosting.
Jewellery making workshop with guest tutor Nic Webb – make a wood and silver ring. You will learn how to make a wood and silver ring by combining various soldering and forming techniques on this weekend course. You will be using fine silver and sustainable hardwoods.

Thanks to funding from Southwark Adult Learning Services we have more of our popular Family Workshops in jewellery making to offer the local community, and they are absolutely free! These Introductory family workshops aim to get children involved in making and enjoying their creativity. At Flux Studios we provide a supportive environment where families / children and their carers can actively engage with creative and craft processes together in the professional environment of an artist studio.

I’m endlessly surprised by how much is achieved by the participants – complete beginners, young and old – in such a short time, and by the range and quality of creativity that unfolds in those 3 hours…..Elsewhere, hammers and punches were used to make interesting textures, and beautiful patterns were pressed using the rolling mill. A particular favourite for me was Laura’s landscape.. she worked out a superb solution for a plinth.

Are you ready for something new?
Why not treat yourself to a course here at Flux Studios! Whether you’re new to jewellery making or if you fancy improving skills and developing new techniques, you can be sure of the best possible tuition to meet your needs. Techniques we will be exploring this term include wax carving (for casting), making hollow forms, and creative approaches to joining elements together using links and linkages. At beginners level soldering will also be a focus for skills development.
Learn how to cast silver using the Delft sand method. Great for one off prototyping and small batch production. Suitable for those with some experience of jewellery making. A fantastic way to make use of your silver scrap too.
We’ve set up a new set of evening courses in response to demand; this new series of courses (coded G0) is an exciting development for Flux Studios as each 6 week block will be led by Flux members. For these courses our acclaimed contemporary jewellers will usually be working in pairs, and with 2 tutors to 12 students you can expect excellent personal tuition.
