Miss Measure shows us how to get it right with cold enameling

Flux students get the hang of the cold enameling technique

cold enamel samples for flux jewellery classes

Having produced a series of test pieces to show what could be achieved with the cold enameling process, our advanced students were excited to get to work on their own designs to further explore and develop the technique….

Their first lesson was a tough one – when cold enameling,  accurately measuring the resin is key to getting this tricky material to set. It has certainly been a challenge for the Tuesday advanced groups to master the precision required for successfully mixing the resin, and in the first weeks we have had a fair share of sticky disappointments ! But we are beginning to see some amazing jewellery pieces emerging from our advanced jewellery students this term.

Last week we saw the beautiful brass and cold enamel pieces by Juliette; this week we take a look at Viktoria’s impressive collection of pieces.

It’s not for no reason that regular Tuesday student Viktoria has gained the nickname of ‘Miss Measure’ here at Flux. But today we celebrate Viktoria’s  promotion to ‘Ms Measure’ as she shows mastery of the resin mixing process :)Here is her latest suite of jewellery that she has produced this term so far:

Viktoria's necklace

This beautiful necklace shows the high degree of precision Viktoria really likes to work to, with the clean lines and flat, smart, contrasting colours. These pieces give us a glimpse at Viktoria’s graphic past.
