Intermediate Silver Jewellery Evening Course 24 April 2014

 

Course Details: Married Metals. C18 .Learn how to combine 2 or more metals together in patterns to add colour to your jewellery. Develop your cutting, filing and soldering skills to an expert level! Make a cuff and a brooch from your colourful sheet. Learn how to solder steel with silver, and make a beautiful ring.

Thursday Evenings, 6-9pm for 10 weeks

The course is presented in 2 projects that develop technical skills while also encouraging experimentation and design development

  • Project 1 – make a cuff using 2 different metals
  • Project 2 – Make a steel and silver ring
  • Project 3 – design and make a brooch using married metals

By the end of this course you will know how to work with a range of unusual metals, and choose appropriate fluxes and solders, clean and prepare metal for ‘marrying’, use a variety of soldering techniques when joining complex multiple seams, clean up and polish your married metals sheet – and you will have made 3 uniquely colourful pieces of jewellery that incorporate a number of metals for contrast

Materials Fee: £15 to cover the cost of all non precious materials and consumables, payable on the first day of your course
