Course Description: Developing Design Skills. A16 This course combines theoretical elements of designing jewellery with practical making projects to inspire new ways of working. In addition to the practical projects, each week we explore a new element or quality that can be used to influence jewellery design.
Students are welcome to work on their own projects if they prefer not to follow the suggested theme.
Tue mornings, 10am – 1pm for 10 weeks

The course is presented in 3 projects that focus on an alternative approach to developing ideas for your jewellery, while also expanding technical skills.

- Designing for a client – Design and make a ring to a specific brief
- Materials and technique –influenced jewellery design
- Concept –influenced jewellery design
By the end of this course you will know how to design an item of jewellery for someone else, combine the qualities of material with technique to influence your designs, develop a series of designs for jewellery based on a chosen theme or concept – and you will have designed and made 3 pieces of jewellery based on your developing ideas.

- Materials Fee: £15 to cover the cost of all non precious materials and consumables, payable on the first day of your course
